Working with blocks is one of the main advantages of AutoCAD, which makes creating projects a lot easier. After preparing the drawing, you should be wondering how to remove the block in AutoCAD when it is not used in the project.

Methods of removing blocks in AutoCAD.

After all, unnecessary definitions have a significant impact on the overall size of the file. It is therefore logical to optimize the project and eliminate unnecessary ones. With our instructions, you can achieve this effect in minutes.

Why the necessary blocks in Avtokad - the main advantages of work

They can rightly be considered the crowning achievement of drawing automation in AutoCAD. In fact, it is a single object that is built on the basis of primitives.

  1. Working with them greatly improves the quality of the project. The output is prepared by the same project type with the same size and type of absolutely all sockets, switches, circuit breakers, etc.

  2. In practice, help to improve performance. Experience shows that working with them significantly reduces the total number of objects included in the drawing. For example, when moving and copying objects, there is always the possibility that not all elements are recorded. In this situation, you can avoid using blocks entirely. Now just enough time to spend a little more time on their creation, in order to save the energy that is spent on the redesign in the future.

How to remove unused blocks in AutoCAD - easy process

The standard method is also suitable for removing an entry in the drawing (left). To do this, select the desired block and click on Delete. Or you can use the delete command. In this case, however, one thing that is dangerous for us must be taken into account: the definition itself is retained in the file. Therefore, it will still be on the list and take an extra place.

It seems logical to assume that the AutoCAD block editor can help us in this case. But after experimenting with this instrument, we could absolutely make sure that it couldn't solve the problem.

But no time to get excited - there are other more effective ways. In particular, you can use the "CLEAR" command to remove unnecessary definitions. While there is a catch here, you need to make sure there are no block entries in graphics to ensure that this command actually runs correctly. As a result, they are removed in several steps - first, the blocks in our drawing are removed. Next, go to the Programs menu, from here select Utilities, then click Delete.

You can also use the command line if you want and specify a similar command here: Operations AutoCAD Utilities - Delete. The Cleaning Drawing dialog box that opens allows the user to see in more detail the tree of all the named objects that we can move to. Use the BLOCKS section to erase unused blocks from the entire drawing at once.

If only individual objects are to be deleted, double-click the "Blocks" element with the left mouse button. A general list of blocks appears from which you must select the blocks to be deleted.

Also, keep in mind that some of them may not appear initially in this list. Use the Show Items That Cannot Be Deleted option to see absolutely everything.

After deleting the required definitions, you will see an updated list of the definitions in your drawing.

The process is quite simple and takes a few minutes. Be responsible for file optimization - by automating and simplifying the solution of the tasks without losing the necessary data.
