Ant Middleton and late mom overcame troubled relationship before their cancer battle

Ant Middleton revealed on Friday that his mother died earlier this week and that he was by her side.

The grieving star's mother was only 62 years old and her death comes just weeks after she was diagnosed with cancer.

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins trainer Ant has always been open about his life in the Army before he found fame and authored two books The First Man, In: From the Front Line and Fear, The Bubble, where he discussed how his childhood shaped him.

He has also talked about growing up and his troubled relationship with his mother after his father died when he was just five years old.

Ant's dad, Peter Aaron, died at the age of 36 of a heart attack - and left him desperate.

That's when his relationship with his mother started to be strained.

Ant didn't know how his mother, the new boyfriend, was very strict and wouldn't think twice about forcibly keeping the house in order.

He told The Sun in 2018: “The vivid memory of my life was the awakening not long after my father died and there was a man I had never seen before standing next to my mom.

“He was enormous, with a big nose and dark hair that went over his shoulders.

"I could say he was a lot younger than mom who said, Anthony, meet your new dad’. "

Ant says he and his three brothers were "threatened with beating if they ever talked about their father again."

He added, “Dad was wiped out of our lives. The day after he died, every photo of him and disappeared from the house. It was like it never existed. Me and my brothers weren't even allowed to go to his funeral. His death was made absolute. "

Ant then at the age of 16 went to work for 9 Para, the airborne division of the Royal Engineers, in part to get away from his step father.

He then quit the Army and began training for the MET Police, but was removed from the course after brushing his own with the drunk driving law.

He then met his wife Emilie and joined the Royal Marines and later became a sniper in the Special Boat Service and turned his life around.

Fortunately, Ant was able to fly home from New Zealand, where he was already filming the new series, who was with his mom as her health deteriorated.

It happened amid the global coronavirus pandemic that may have prevented Ant from traveling home.

"My mother died of cancer two days ago and I wanted to be off filming in New Zealand, I wasn't due back until April 6th," he said.

“Because of this situation and the negativity of my mom with cancer I had to come back and be allowed to be by my mom’s side while she was taking her last breath.

"So the extent of all this negativity that I've ripped out positive from him."

He continued: “I'm so glad I could get on my mom’s side when he took her last breath.
