G-shock 5081 how to set the time

Set the time on a Baby G watch

  • 1

Familiarize yourself with the buttons on the side of the watch. At the top left is usually the "Set" button, at the bottom left "Mode" and with the buttons on the right you can adjust the numbers up and down.

  • 2

Make sure you are on the main time view. Press the "Mode" button in the lower left corner to cycle through the displays if you are not sure - you will get through Manual Settings, Alarm Clock, Stopwatch, Timer and World Time. The main time display usually comes after the world time. Press the button in the lower left corner each time to switch the display.

  • 3

When you are on the main time display, press the "Customize" button in the top left for a few seconds. You hear a beep and the numbers start flashing, usually seconds first. (Depending on the style of the watch, your home city may start flashing first. If so, use the buttons on the right to change the city to the one that is closest to you and in the same time zone. If you E.g. if you are in Brisbane, Australia, set it to Syd (Sydney).)

  • 4

Change the seconds with the buttons on the right (depending on whether you want to go up or down) and then press the "Mode" button in the lower left to skip to the next part of the time. If you don't want to set the seconds, just press "Mode" directly.

  • 5

Either the hours or minutes will now flash. Adjust them with the buttons on the right. Press Mode to jump to the other time value (hour or minute, whichever you changed first). If you have the time right, press "Mode" again in the lower left corner.

  • 6

You should now be able to change the date. Use the buttons at the top and bottom right to adjust the day, month or year, depending on what the watch shows you first to change. Press "Mode" in the lower left corner to move on to the next part of the date, and repeat until the day, month and year are all correct.

  • 7

Depending on the model of your watch, you may now be asked whether you want the time in 12 or 24 hour format. Select it with the buttons on the right and press Mode again. When you've set each item, you'll eventually come back to the beginning (i.e. blinking seconds or a blinking city, depending on the model).

  • 8

Finally, press the "Customize" button in the upper left corner to set your time. That's it, you're done! Unless you have a digital / analog watch then read on.

  • 9

If your watch has an analog and a digital time, then - if you are very lucky - your watch will set the analog time according to the digital one. If your watch does not do this (ie the hands show a different time than the digital display), press the "Mode" button in the lower left corner until you see "HS (with digital time)", "HS" "Hand Set" "," Hand Set (Digi Time) "or something similar. This is the indicator for setting the hands.

  • 10

Now press the "Customize" button at the top left for a few seconds. You will hear a beep and the digital display will likely start blinking. Use the buttons on the right to move the pointers. On some models, you can only move them in one direction with the lower button, so you may need to be patient. If you press the button in the lower right corner, the minute hand will advance one minute, if you keep it pressed, it will move faster.

  • 11

Press and hold the button in the lower right corner to move the minute hand. You may have to wait to step through the hours until they coincide with digital time. When you get closer to the right time (e.g., you are 10 minutes away from her), stop pressing the button and press it the last couple of times to set the time it takes. If you hold it down too long, you may go past the required time and have to start over again. Very frustrating.

  • 12

When the hands match the digital time, press the "Adjust" button in the upper left to set them and you're done! Some watches will automatically bring you back to the main time display. If the display still shows "H-S", "H-Set", etc. then press "Mode" in the lower left corner until you are back at the main display.
