Roberta Howett: I haven't spoken to Sharon Osbourne in 10 years

Former X Factor beauty Roberta Howett has admitted she hasn’t spoken to mentor Sharon Osbourne in almost a decade.

The stunning Dublin singer, the youngest of 12 children, shot to fame in the first series of the show in 2004.

At the time she was praised for not relying on her good looks but sadly she became the first finalist to be kicked off the show.

Sharon, wife of singer Ozzy, then took on the role of Roberta's manager but the pair parted ways soon after.

Roberta, 33, told the Mirror: “Sharon was amazing but I don’t have any contact with her now.

"But there is no reason to speak to her or not to speak to her."

But the blonde insisted there is no bad blood between them.

Since appearing on the X Factor Roberta has moved to London where she dabbled in method acting and released solo single ‘Beautiful Lies’, which saw her work with hit producer Jake Gosling.

The track became Howett’s first Top 40 single debuting at No.23 in the Irish Singles Chart.

She said: “I've kept up the music and have been involved in various projects over the years.

“I've been a backing singer for Ronan Keating, Chris de Burgh.

“I've performed at Glastonbury with Sharon Corr and at Oxegen Festival with Bressie.

“I've also toured with Spanish composer Momo. And I was in girl band Fanfare which did pretty well. "

The band, who supported The Wanted on a sell-out tour, split last year and now the singer is hoping for chart glory on her own.

"I'm releasing my new single‘ Broken Wings ’. It's about railing against those who judge people who choose to be single over entering relationships for the sake of it.

"I'm hoping to release a couple of more singles and then an album.

“The dream, of course, is to do well in the charts but I'm just happy for people to hear my music.

"I have a little studio set up at my home in London where I'm working away on the album."

Roberta, who has dated Jim Corr, Ross Desmond and former Leinster rugby player David Blaney, said she is still looking for love.

"I'm single at the moment. I'm at that stage now where all my friends seem to be getting married and settling down - but I'm definitely not there yet. "
