  • a good memory

Lucid dreams - what it is

  • Lucid means "clear" or "obvious". So when you dream, you also know that you are dreaming. This is not necessarily unusual. In fact, almost everyone has experienced this before.
  • While the person dreams lucidly, he can live out his wildest fantasies, for example flying, or build his own dream house.
  • People only dream in the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) phase. This is the third phase of our sleep, which people go through three to four times during the night.
  • Even if you think you haven't dreamed, you certainly did - unless you have trouble sleeping or are taking sleeping pills. Otherwise every person and every animal dreams. The impressions of the day are relived in a modified form and processed in this way.
  • You have the opportunity to control and influence dreams in which you are currently yourself. However, it is not that easy and needs some patience.

How you can control yourself

  1. First of all, it is important and good to have a healthy and adequate sleep. Because the longer and more intensely you sleep, the greater the chance of having a lucid dream.
  2. To get started, buy a dream journal (a normal notebook). Write down your dream there every morning. If you forget it once, it will be difficult to remember it later. List everything that you can think of from the dream: impressions, feelings, but also smells. The writing down serves to become aware of your dreams.
  3. When you have been doing this for some time, you can slowly begin to control your dreams. A lot of techniques have been developed. A very simple technique is the so-called autosuggestion, that is, activating your own imagination. You can say to yourself: "If I dream, I will remember it".
  4. You have turned off the lights, your eyes are closed and you are about to fall asleep. Keep telling yourself that you are going to have a lucid dream.
  5. If it doesn't work right away, don't worry. It doesn't necessarily work for everyone, as a very strong ability to remember is necessary. Therefore, it is good to write down your dreams for a while in the morning.
  6. When you wake up from the dream in the night, immediately recall it and hold onto it. If you want to turn around and go back to sleep, tell yourself your affirmation: "If I dream, I will remember it".
  7. Keep telling yourself. So that it's only your affirmation that you think about.
  8. If you like, you can now consciously control the dream: For example, if you fall from a bridge or a mountain and are afraid, control the dream and tell yourself that nothing can happen.
  9. Perceive everything that is possible in a dream. You can smell the flowers, swim in the sea and taste the salt water. Recognize every little detail and find your own way.
  10. Before you go to bed, keep telling yourself that you have beautiful and interesting dreams. But be careful. Don't do it too often. As with anything we do over and over, a routine can come up.
