Sony Bravia: set up, connect and solve problems

You can connect your Sony Bravia TV to the Internet and use the various smart functions of the device. We'll show you how to make your television internet-enabled wirelessly via WiFi or a cable. We also give you tips and assistance if there are problems.

The TVs in the Sony Bravia series are designed as smart TVs. In theory, you can watch TV without going online, but that's not what the devices are actually designed for. For practical reasons alone, you should set up an Internet connection in order to carry out an update with Android TV. If you want to go online, depending on the model, you have the choice between a WiFi connection or a cable. In the following instructions we will show you how to set up the Internet connection in a few simple steps.

Sony-Bravia: how to set up the Internet

The Sony Bravia can be connected to the Internet in just a few simple steps. First you press the home button to get to the home screen of Android TV.

  1. Then scroll down with the remote control until you get to the settings.
  2. Here you go to the menu Network options.
  3. On the next screen you have the choice whether you want to connect the Sony Bravia TV via WLAN or cable LAN - select the appropriate connection.
  4. Then you look for your network from the list of available networks.
  5. If it doesn't appear, see the next section for tips on how to solve the problem.
  6. Then enter the access data for your Internet connection - you can find this information in the documents you received from the provider.
  7. Finally you save the connection.

From now on you can use this access with your Sony Bravia television to go online, use YouTube, download apps and games and use numerous online media libraries from the various broadcasters. Another tip: For some services (e.g. YouTube) it is advisable to create a Google account and link it to the Sony Bravia TV. In this way you can then, for example, stream YouTube videos from your TV directly to the TV. You can find the corresponding option under SettingsUsersAdd account.

A recommended Bravia television is the Sony KD-49XE7005 with a 123 cm screen diagonal (49 inches) and 4K resolution, which is available from Amazon at a low price:
