Our 1st place: Huawei P30 Pro NEW EDITION

Our 2nd place: Huawei Mate 40 Pro

The Huawei Mate 40 Pro is a genuine upper-class smartphone with a spectacular, excellent display. It takes good photos, can be charged wirelessly and extremely quickly, and is quick to use. In terms of performance, it is in the first row with the current top smartphones, but the high devaluation by a whole mark due to missing apps or apps that can only be obtained indirectly throws it back in the list of the best.

Our 3rd place: Huawei P40 Pro

The Huawei P40 Pro is a treat for technology fans. The camera, battery and speed were convincing in the test, with 5G it is future-proof. The camera has been improved even further compared to its predecessor, the P30 Pro, but still does not offer an optimal solution for smaller zoom levels. With a full Android device, the P40 Pro would have secured a grade of 1.7 and would have landed in the top tier of the list of the best. But the lack of Google services is a major loss and led to devaluation in the test (without devaluation, the grade would be 1.7). Technology freaks can set up their P40 Pro passably with a little effort if they do without extras such as Google Pay. However, Huawei's app store has not yet offered enough for normal users. It is better to use the cheaper predecessor P30 Pro - with a Google connection. In the end, every buyer has to decide for themselves how important access to Google's Play Store is to them.

Noble power from China: The best Huawei smartphones

It was 2011 when Huawei presented its first smartphone in Germany. At first as a blatant outsider in the price category under 100 euros, the Chinese are now not only playing in the beginners, but also in the top class.

These are the Huawei series

There are several series to differentiate:
  • Mate series: Here you will find very large models with a large battery and powerful technology.
  • P-series: The P-series is the main model series from Huawei. The P Pro models come with state-of-the-art technology, the normal P models are good upper-class models and the P-Lite models, depending on the year, are entry-level or middle-class devices.
  • Y series: Here you can find inexpensive entry-level devices
