Vossloh Locomotives receives major locomotive order


Vossloh Locomotives in Kiel, a subsidiary of Vossloh AG, has signed a contract for the delivery of 44 DE 18 diesel-electric locomotives with the French company Akiem S.A.S. signed. Akiem is one of the leading leasing companies for rail vehicles in Europe. The order volume for the vehicles is around € 140 million. The locomotives for Akiem will be manufactured at the new Vossloh Locomotives location in Kiel Suchsdorf and will be delivered from 2018. In addition to the move, the contract won also supports the improvement in sales and profitability for Vossloh Locomotives, which was assumed in the planning.

Dr.h.c. Hans M. Schabert, CEO of Vossloh AG: "The order is a great sales success for Vossloh Locomotives and will create very good basic capacity utilization for our new location in Kiel Suchsdorf, which we will move into from autumn 2016." Thomas Schwichtenberg, Managing Director of Vossloh Locomotives adds: "We are delighted with the trust Akiem has placed in us and this large order, which certifies that our locomotives are extremely efficient."

Vossloh Locomotives is part of Vossloh's Transportation division. As part of the focus on the rail infrastructure business, which was resolved in 2014 and has been consistently pursued since then, the Group intends to sell the activities of the division by the end of 2017 at the latest or to transfer them to suitable partnerships in order to enable the growth prospects specific to the vehicle business.
