Where are clipped domes required
With quick-release couplings (mono-couplings) you can easily and quickly connect or disconnect individual fluidic or electrical lines repeatedly and safely and without the use of additional tools. In addition to the large variety of our standard range of quick connect couplings with a wide variety of materials and sealing qualities, we also offer our customers specific individual solutions.
In contrast to multi-couplings, mono- or single-couplings only connect one line. They consist of two connecting parts, the coupling and the nipple or socket and plug. Quick-release couplings enable the quick connection and disconnection of lines that supply machines and systems with electricity, liquid or gaseous media. In this way, they guarantee the reliable and safe connection and replacement of modules, systems and units in various industrial sectors - whether the steel industry, chemical and pharmaceutical industry, medical, traffic or offshore technology.
Monocouplings in many different designs
The various types of quick connect couplings differ depending on the intended use, the medium conveyed in the line, the pressure conditions in the line and the connection mechanism. With regard to the intended use, there are through couplings and nipples that ensure free passage of the medium without a valve, but do not shut off the lines when uncoupling. Quick-release couplings and nipples close lines with pointed or needle valves, clean-break couplings and nipples with dry or leak-free valves to ensure that they are drip-free. Depending on the application, air, gas, acid, water or oil (e.g. for water- and oil-based hydraulics) are used as the conveyed medium. Depending on the pressure conditions, there are low-pressure, medium-pressure and high-pressure quick-release couplings; depending on the connection mechanism, plug-in and screw-type couplings are used in industrial environments.
Low pressure quick connect couplings
Depending on the type, standard low-pressure couplings are designed for an operating pressure of up to 100 bar and are suitable for various media, whether water, oils, fuel or compressed air. They are used, for example, on the compressed air consumer in tools and blow guns or in the steel industry to supply the systems with hydraulics and compressed air. Depending on the area of application, there are low-pressure clutches with an automatic locking system that enables more convenience when coupling.
Medium pressure quick release couplings
Medium-pressure couplings, which - depending on the type - are designed for an operating pressure of up to 250 bar, are also suitable for liquid and gaseous media. Clean-break couplings in the medium pressure range are used, for example, for hydraulic applications, but are also suitable for coupling lines that carry compressed air, water or fuel. Depending on the area of application and equipment, mono-couplings have an automatic locking mechanism or an unlocking device.
High pressure quick connect couplings
Quick connect couplings can also withstand high pressures. Depending on the type, high-pressure couplings are suitable for an operating pressure of up to 2000 bar and are used, for example, for oil-air lubrication on roll stands in the steel industry. In order to withstand such extreme loads, monocouplings for high pressure applications are designed to be extremely robust. This also applies to use in offshore systems, where quick-release couplings often have to function and operate smoothly for decades, even in the underwater area.
In order to avoid leakages and environmental pollution, couplings with special sealing systems are required here. These include quick-release couplings for hydraulic control and chemical injection, but also mono-couplings for gas lines that can be operated by a diving robot, a so-called ROV (Remotly Operated Vehicle).
Clean break couplings
In sensitive sectors such as the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, where the safety requirements are particularly high, clean-break couplings ensure that no drips are encountered when connecting and disconnecting lines, for example when taking samples of various liquids and gases. The clean break valves ensure that coupling is possible without splashing, without air inclusion and loss of media and - depending on the valve - even under residual pressure.
Plug and screw couplings
In medical technology, plug-in and screw-type couplings are used for the quick connection and disconnection of lines, be it clean-break screw-type couplings for the cooling lines in computer tomographs, quick-release couplings for dialysis machines or closure couplings for the medical gas supply in hospitals. In order to ensure safe operation and to avoid incorrect connection of the lines, the couplings are unmistakably available in different color codes and / or mechanical coding variants.
Special designs of monocouplings in various industries
In demanding industries with high safety requirements, it is not uncommon for mono-couplings in special designs for special purposes to be required. These include coaxial couplings in the low-pressure range, which are used in the steel industry for cooling electrical lines in continuous casting plants. Other special designs are breathing air couplings in the medical field or for breathing masks for fire brigades and divers, high-pressure refueling couplings for refueling vehicles with gaseous hydrogen, CIP / SIP quick-release couplings, e.g. B. for cosmetics production or pharmaceuticals as well as high and low temperature couplings, which are designed for media with temperatures from -200 degrees to a maximum of 310 degrees Celsius.
Breakaway couplings for sensitive areas of application
Breakaway couplings play an important role as safety components, which automatically and ideally decouple the media supply in a non-destructive manner when a predetermined, defined breakaway force is exceeded. This applies, for example, to the filling of chemicals or the refueling and loading of ships, vehicles or railway wagons. The separation takes place either without a pull rope or via a separate pull rope with which the tensile forces are directed to the lock.
Function and advantages of quick connect couplings
The use of quick release couplings enables more flexibility and greater economic benefit, because cables can be disconnected and reconnected quickly and safely. In vehicles, for example, mono-couplings facilitate the assembly and maintenance of heating and air conditioning systems or they also enable safe refueling with gaseous hydrogen. In rail vehicles, the clutches are an essential part of hydraulic and pneumatic brake systems, energy supply or air conditioning.
