"Game of Thrones": The best maps of Westeros and Essos

Even attentive fans can sometimes lose track of the complex TV series “Game of Thrones”. Countless characters who are constantly on the move and frequent changes of scene make the world even more confusing. So that you can keep your bearings, you will find the current maps for "Game of Thrones" in our article.

Game of Thrones: The Official Maps

The official "Game of Thrones" map of Westeros and Essos has been in stores since 2012. You can purchase the “The Lands of Ice and Fire” map collection for just under € 30 on Amazon. In it you will not only find a complete overview of Westeros, but also maps of the important cities. Unfortunately, the official map is only available in English.

On the official page of "Game of Thrones" you will find a lot of information - from character descriptions to interviews and background reports. The menu item “Map” is also interesting. There you can call up the map of the individual episodes and seasons. The respective locations are listed on the overview, whereby you can call up background information about the characters, locations and cities with one click. This comes in handy when you want to know when and where each character is.

Is there an official German card?

Unfortunately there is no official map in the German translation. In the books, too, only excerpts are available. There is also no German-language poster so far. If you are looking for an official German version, you are unfortunately left behind. You will only find what you are looking for in the unofficial "A Song of Ice and Fire" Wiki. There is a detailed map of the continents of Westeros and Essos.

"Game of Thrones": Best Fan Card

The most extensive interactive “Game of Thrones” map to date can be found at quartermaester.info. It includes Westeros, Essos and Sothoryos and offers some interesting features. At the top right you can call up the different seasons and episodes - this prevents unnecessary spoilers. You can also click on the individual houses and figures, which shows the distances that the characters have covered. You can also look at the map in the Google Earth view (attention, the version is from 2012) and download it as a PDF.

For the detailed map, the creator Ser MountainGoat was even personally commissioned by George R.R. Martin praised. However, Martin deliberately refrains from providing information about the geographic data of Westeros. The fan card is therefore only based on estimates and shows a speculative version of Westeros and Essos. You will also find another map on the homepage of the maker, on which the historical events from the books are drawn. However, this overview is currently under construction.

In addition to the interactive map, there are also some interesting fan projects. The geographer Sean Garvey compares the dimensions of Westeros, Essos with Europe on his map. He uses professional map software for this. He has also built an editor function into his interactive version of the "Game of Thrones" map, with which you can edit the map yourself.
