about the company

De’Longhi was founded in 1902 in Treviso, Italy. From a small craft business with customer service, De’Longhi quickly blossomed into a major supplier of individual components for the household appliance industry.

In 1977 Dr. Giuseppe De’Longhi took over the running of the company. He switched the group from a pure supplier operation to its own production. The areas of mobile air conditioning, heating and household appliances were of particular importance. De’Longhi started with small air conditioning and heating devices and from then on supplied the market directly.

In 2001 De’Longhi took over the English brand Kenwood, including customer service and spare parts, and this gave a huge boost to the global market. In this country, De’Longhi has been selling kitchen machines and small kitchen appliances through Kenwood since the takeover. The company has a total of six other subsidiaries: Climaveneta, Ariagel, Simac Vetrella, Elba and DL Radiators SpA. Today, the company, which has been listed on the stock exchange since 2001, has nine production sites in northern Italy. A serious fire destroyed the production plant in Treviso, De’Longhi's headquarters, in 2007. But the company did not suffer any major damage.

De’Longhi is currently concentrating in particular on the business areas of air conditioning, cooking and household appliances, cleaning and ironing equipment as well as radiators of all kinds. According to the company on its website, the quality of De’Longhi products is what makes them particularly user-friendly, exceptional and elegant design with its clear shapes. The company's management and the commitment of the employees are also a recipe for success for De’Longhi.

In Germany, the De’Longhi brand has been managed by Managing Director Helmut Geltner since 2001. In recent years he has succeeded in increasing De’Longhi Deutschland GmbH's sales many times over and consistently using the synergies from the takeover of the English brand Kenwood for an optimized market presence. In February 2011 there was an award for his achievements within the scope of the “Plus X Awards”: Geltner was named “Manager of the Decade”.

The success story of the Italian company continues: with effect from September 1, 2012, De’Longhi acquired the rights to the German brand Braun from The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G). Since then, De’Longhi has been selling small kitchen appliances, ironing equipment and small household appliances under the well-known brand name; However, Braun is still owned by P&G. As a result of the successful integration of Braun, De’Longhi-Kenwood GmbH's sales rose to 44.5 million euros in 2013.
